2011 Favorite Reads

I am a bookworm.
Always have been, always will be.
With my deep love of all things paper,
I am not a Nook or Kindle reader... yet,
but my oldest is trying hard
to get this old dog
to learn a new trick.

I have finally arrived at the period of time
when all of my kids can swim alone, without me, without help.
{OH, THE JOY!!!}
My summers at the pool now consist of
feeding people,
applying sunscreen,
handing out cash for the occasional ice cream,
and READING.

Uninterrupted.
{You can't see me, but I'm doing a little happy dance.}

I think reading uninterrupted is truly every mother's greatest reward.
That and having enough quiet time to complete a thought.

Here are a few of my favorites of the past year.

SOOO good!

There were so many other good ones as well.
Angie Smith's second book, What Women Fear was all kinds of awesome,
Crazy Love by Francis Chan was... unfinished.
Not a comment on the book, more about the reader {ahem}

And because I am a total nerd,
anything with an Amish twist gets read round here.

Don't judge... no foul language, no tawdry scenes, no killing.
Totally wholesome.
My kind of books!

I did receive two books for Christmas
and I'm already half way through the first one: Kisses from Katie.
Thanks to Katie and her AMAZING story,
I now feel the need to move to Uganda.

Second in the 2012 queue is
Grace for the Good Girl by Emily Freeman.
She has long been one of my favorite bloggers
and I can't wait to see
what her first book holds!

You won't be disappointed by any of these -
promise!

Blessings,

{K}

  1. Thank you for the reminder of the Francine Rivers books!!! I have been wanting to read them, but they have been off of my radar. From another book lover, I have to say that I LOVE my Nook! I still love getting "real" books, but the convenience of buying any book that I want and being able to read it in the next moment is truly a joy! Happy reading!!! (and nearly finished with Emily's book- it is fantastic!)
